What is a bid/no-bid checklist?

A bid/no-bid checklist is a fast decision tool contractors use before estimating. It confirms whether the scope, deadline, location, bonding, license, forms, crew schedule, and pricing risk make the opportunity worth chasing.

Fast checks

  • Does the work match your normal trade and job size?
  • Can you attend mandatory meetings or site visits?
  • Can your team price the job before the due date without guessing?
  • Do the bond, insurance, license, and registration requirements fit your company?

Risk checks

  • Look for unclear quantities, unusual delivery rules, missing drawings, required alternates, and strict liquidated damages.
  • Check whether addenda have changed the scope or deadline.
  • Avoid work that needs unfamiliar subs unless you already have reliable coverage.

Output

  • A useful checklist ends with a clear go, no-go, or hold-for-RFI decision.
  • It should list the official source link and the next action owner.
  • It should not replace final review of the buyer's official documents.

GeauxBids helps contractors triage public notices faster. It does not replace official buyer postings, addenda, or legal/procurement advice.
